Coolidge Community Park

Coordinator Positions

Volunteers are needed for the following committees.  Visit the Volunteer Application to express interest in any of these roles.

1. Co-General Coordinators (2 people) – High-energy individuals who make things happen. Willing to delegate and possesses good interpersonal skills. Lots of networking.

2. Fundraising (2 people and lots of assistants) – Fundraising is one of the most important aspects of the project, so the more people we can get involved, the better.

3. Public Relations (2 people) – We need to create a buzz in the community via radio, newspapers, the web, posters, flyers, word of mouth, etc. Experience or contacts in media is helpful but not required.

4. Coordination of volunteers (2 or more people) – A crucial piece of the puzzle. Requires coordinating the efforts of many people, particularly with regard to the final stages of the project, including the actual building of the playground. Organized and detail-oriented.

5. Children’s Committee (2 people) – Keeps the kids involved by working with them throughout the project (you will serve as the voice for the children). Works directly with children.

6. Childcare (2 or more people) – Provides supervision and activities for children during construction. It’s helpful if at least one person is connected to a preschool or elementary school.

7. Donated materials (1-2 people) – Creative and resourceful, these are the go-getters to acquire goods needed for the project. Needs flexible daytime hours to accomplish the task.

8. Food (1 person) – We need to feed all the hungry volunteers participating in the construction of the playground. Is there a restaurant owner who’d like to volunteer their experience to coordinate this effort…and maybe even donate the food?

9. Purchased Materials (1 person) – Familiarity with buying practices and a network of companies who supply materials would be useful. Contractors, builders, and hardware store or lumberyard employees are great candidates.

10. Tools (2 people) – To build a playground, you need tools. Someone with a knowledge of tools and access to acquiring, distributing and maintaining them for the project would serve well.

11. Design and Special Features  (1 person) – A creative person with connections to local artists is a plus. Maybe someone from ArtSpace would be interested? We want to incorporate custom artistic touches and designs to our playground. Attention local artists!!!

12. Special Needs (1 person) – Someone with experience determining accessibility needs for the equipment we choose. Maybe the parent of a special needs child could provide input based on their experience.
